Relationships with community employers are essential for creating and maintaining employment opportunities. AFIL maintains relationships with the following companies:
AFIL – DART Partnership
A partnership with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) for public transportation and training for new routes along with Para-transit are critical components for residents’ employment. AFIL staff members speak with DART representatives almost daily and meet with them in person regularly.
Working with all of the transition teams of the local Independent School Districts and private schools is pivotal in outreaching to future AFIL candidates and their families. As a result of building a relationship with the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department, two residents were part of a pilot after school program sponsored by a grant from the City of Dallas and the Dallas ISD.
We provide an internship site for graduate and undergraduate residents from several Universities in the Metroplex. AFIL partners with many other Community Based Organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, especially with AFIL’s sister organization, Storey Lane Independent Living, Inc. (SLIL).
