AFIL Residents

AFIL Resident Profile

AFIL residents are young adults with a medical diagnosis of an intellectual and developmental disability. Our average resident is between the ages of 20 and 35 years old and entered the program between 18 and 30.  Each person must be capable of at least part-time competitive employment and/or volunteering in the community.

AFIL Goals

AFIL Employment/Vocational Goals

Throughout all three phases of the AFIL program, the career residents work to maintain their competitive employment, full or part-time, as they are responsible to pay their rent or mortgage. AFIL staff can provide job development assistance for some residents.

AFIL Activities

Social and Recreational Activities

Residents in all three levels of the program are involved in numerous recreational activities and outings. Development of one’s “down time” is encouraged as part of the maturity process.
